Frequently Asked Questions
While there are many other practices, medi-spa’s, etc., that offer CoolSculpting, and they also offer a full menu of other services, EMBODYMENT’s sole focus and expertise is in body contouring and fat reduction. EMBODYMENT’s Master Specialist is an expert in the technology and treatments from start to finish. For more information on EMBODYMENT’s spectialist, please click on this link to read LeighAnn’s Bio and credentials. CoolSculpting® is a medical procedure and just like with plastic surgery, you want a qualified expert doing your procedure. CoolSculpting® is permanent, during the treatment, the fat cells killed and gone for good. Therefore, it is possible to have a “bad treatment” and look “botched.” It does matter who does your procedure. LeighAnn of EMBODYMENT prides herself on her background, how she got to where she is today, the training she received while working on the corporate side of CoolSculpting®.
Another benefit of being treated by LeighAnn is due to her personal training history. LeighAnn, more than anyone understands the journey of reaching desired outcomes. LeighAnn’s patients find a sense of comfort with her because of her “bedside manners,” when it comes to the delicate topic of the body, our intrinsic insecurities and can help navigate a patient through their journey not just from a standpoint of body contouring.
CoolSculpting® is a proven nonsurgical fat removal technology revolutionary procedure that uses controlled cooling (also called Cryolipolysis) to target, freeze, and eliminate fat cells from your body. FDA cleared, CoolSculpting® allows you to truly sculpt and target specific parts of the body – like the abdomen, love handles, back/bra fat, inner thighs, outer thighs, double chin, arms, and more. The saying goes, “If you can squeeze it, we can freeze it.”
After the procedure, your body continues to break down the treated (frozen) fat cells, leading to a natural cell death. As the fat cells die, they collapse, and the natural inflammatory process removes the dead cells through the lymphatic system over the next 4 weeks to 4 months. That leaves you with long-lasting results with no surgery, no needles, and no downtime. Untreated areas will have no change in fat cell distribution. Once the fat cell is killed, it cannot return.
CoolSculpting® is FDA-cleared, non-surgical, no needles and totally non-invasive. There is little to no downtime and you can get back to daily activities right away. There are 100s of peer-reviewed papers written on CoolSculpting® and it is the world’s #1 non-invasive fat-reduction technology. As of 2019, the procedure has been done more than 8 million times and continues to gain momentum as it is safe, effective and allows individuals to contour, shape and sculpt their body in ways that diet and exercise have failed to do.
Majority of patients say that: CoolSculpting® doesn’t hurt. There is a crucial 2 minute massage after the treatment that most patients would say is: uncomfortable but bearable. There is a small percentage of patients that find a lot of discomfort in the post massage but report back after they receive their results, that it was: worth it. Everyone reacts and even “heals” a little differently, even to the area of body being treated. Some patients experience soreness, numbness, longer than others… All symptoms do go away in time and there are remedy’s to help while discomfort subsides.
No, not solely from CoolSculpting®. The saying, “muscle weighs more than fat,” is true. Fat does not weigh much at all. CoolSculpting® only targets fat cells and can sculpt, contour, reshape, resize, and debulk parts of your body that more than likely wouldn’t be affected no matter how hard you exercised or how well you ate. Pairing CoolSculpting® together with exercise and eating well or even a new weight loss program, can absolutely help you achieve your goals faster, keep you accountable and see changes that you may not have achieved with diet and exercise alone.
By the time you reach adolescence, 11-15 years old, the number of fat cells you have is set. That’s right, you have the same number of fat cells you did decades ago. The fat cells either expand, we look “fatter,” or they shrink, we look “skinnier.” When we “gain weight” (gain fat,) our fat cells expand; we don’t make new ones. And when we lose weight our fat cells shrink; we don’t get rid of them. So when we use CoolSculpting® to freeze fat cells, they go through “apoptosis” and die and then over 1-4 months flush out of the body through the lymphatic system. Those fat cells are officially gone and we cannot remake them. But there are still fat cells remaining in the treated area that can expand and give you the illusion that you “un did” your CoolSculpting® results. This is why it is important to continue with whatever you are doing (or if you are just starting to eat healthy and exercise, continue ramping that up) so you can appreciate the results for a lifetime.
It depends on the body area, the size of the body area, and the amount of fat that is desired to be reduced from the area. CoolSculpting® for a body area could cost anywhere from $800’s to $10,000’s. On average a patient spends $3,600. Again, it depends on what the patient’s needs are and everyone is unique and not one size fits all, therefore your CoolSculpting® treatment plan will be unique to you. Price shopping without meeting with a qualified specialist first is a dangerous game for the specialist and patient. EMBODYMENT understands that this can be a big investment and this is why we offer our “Patient Promise” and stand behind your results. In your complimentary consultation, a customized treatment plan will be laid out to show you how CoolSculpting® will get you to your desired outcome. You can also review our before and after photos to get a better idea if CoolSculpting® is the right fit for you!
The prices/promos/coupons/etc. are all basically the same between practices and that’s a good thing. CoolSculpting® is a medical procedure and Allergan (the parent company to CoolSculpting®) has done a great job protecting the integrity of the treatment. Therefore, practices cannot go into price wars with one another and dilute the products value. The results are permanent and it’s a medical procedure. This allows the customer/patient to instead “shop around” to find the best Specialist for them based on credentials, experience, qualifications with the technology. Executing the procedure is an art and it is important that the Specialist is educated, trained and experienced. It’s not actually required that specialists are properly trained prior to providing treatments to patients. It’s no different then going to get plastic surgery, be sure to do your research, ask to see their “before and after photos” (not corporate’s photos,) make sure they are certified and graduates of CoolSculpting® University, and ideally have obtained the Master Specialists degree. Pick your practice and specialist based off of those requirements because the price is basically the same everywhere and even though we want to get the best price, it is your body, the results are permanent and you also want the best treatment for the best results!!
Many people can go for extended periods of their life with a relatively stable body fat percentage, despite having had a pretty carefree approach to dieting. Some people, on the other hand, struggle to maintain what most consider an average size. This is because everyone is endowed with a genetic “set point” body fat percentage that their bodies will strive to stay at, despite their greatest efforts. Daily exercise, counting calories, incorporating a healthy diet all bring great results for fat loss, up to your individual set point. However, there are areas where fat will accumulate and simply refuse to be negotiated with because of markers present in our DNA. With CoolSculpting, you can take even greater control over your life and be the real owner of your body by targeting stubborn pockets of fat and clearing away the excess fat cells for good.
The experts EMBODYMENT get asked by all walks of life if CoolSculpting® is right for them and this includes already fit individuals. We live in one of the most active states in the country and we get many athletic individuals, (crossfit athletes, runners, yoga-goers, weekend warriors, etc.,) who just want to do their activities without their shirt on and feel good about it!
They put in the time and effort of eating well, working out hard, and sometimes even they still can’t get rid of that little bit of stubborn fat and truth is, they probably never will with diet and exercise alone. This is were CoolSculptingv comes in. Some of its functions are “Spot Reduction,” sculpting, contouring, in turn – making a fit person look fitter and feel more confident for any occasion. Let CoolSculpting® do what diet and exercise won’t do. We encourage you to workout and eat right to feel good, but not to try to get rid of stubborn fat…that’s what the Experts at EMBODYMENT are for… but as always, come in for a consultation so our Master Specialist can assess you and provide you with the specific outcomes you can expect for your body. Please refer to our before and after photos for examples of all body types.
The treatment itself will vary depending on the targeted area and the volume being treated, however typical sessions last around 35 minutes. Whether or not you will need follow up sessions is dependent on your goals, as you will see an impressive 20-25% reduction in body fat from your first visit alone.
As with most cases for an individual’s body, it will vary. However, exciting progress can be seen in as little as 10 to 12 weeks within starting treatment. The final results can take around 16 weeks to be completely realized, but the initial fat loss you’ll marvel at in the mirror will more than suffice to bring you satisfaction guaranteed.
CoolSculpting® uses a process known as cryolipolysis, which is just a technical term for fat-freezing. When fat cells freeze, they die off and are then naturally eliminated through the body’s process of autophagy, or the way it naturally purges itself of dead or unwanted cells. Don’t panic-this process happens so gradually, you won’t even notice in your day-to-day life (until the beautiful results begin to show!).
CoolSculpting® treatment is not for everyone. Considerations should be made if you suffer from cryoglobulinemia, cold agglutinin disease, or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria. As with any medical procedure, ask your physician if CoolSculpting® is a safe option for you.
First, the applicator will be placed on the desired treatment area and there will be a slight sucking sensation as it adheres to your body, followed by that signature cooling effect. During the procedure you may experience sensations of pulling, tugging, mild pinching, intense cold, tingling, stinging, aching, and cramping at the treatment site. These sensations are mild and subside as the area becomes numb. Following the procedure, typical side effects include temporary redness, swelling, blanching, bruising, firmness, tingling, stinging, tenderness, cramping, aching, itching, or skin sensitivity. Once again, these symptoms are mild and subside quickly.
After the applicator is detached, your provider will do a brief massage on the treated area to break up the fat cells and further enhance fat reduction. That’s it!
CoolSculpting® is designed to target and eliminate stubborn pockets of fat that are difficult to rid yourself of through diet and exercise alone. While the pinpointed fat cells will certainly be eliminated, it is possible to regain some excess weight in other areas of the body if a healthy lifestyle is not maintained and one is over reliant on CoolSculpting® for results.
